Heat - Older people in paved neighbourhoods (2020)
Description
This map shows the percentage of elderly people living in the most paved neighbourhoods of the province of Zuid-Holland. An age limit of 65 years has been maintained for this purpose.
Greening neighborhoods with a lot of paving can contribute to lowering the temperature, the infiltration of rainwater and the livability of the neighborhood. This map is intended to help organizations prioritize their efforts, by providing insight into which very paved neighborhoods many elderly people live in. It can then be chosen to focus extra on greening in these neighborhoods, in order to prevent heat stress* among the elderly.
The districts in the province of Zuid-Holland that are less than 60% paved, and districts where less than 10% of the residents are older than 65 years are not shown on this map.
