Climate analysis: Cold air flow field (2m a.s.l. Reason, agg. 50m)

Description

The near-ground temperature distribution causes horizontal differences in air pressure, which in turn are triggers for local thermal wind systems. The starting point of this process are the nightly temperature differences that occur between settlement areas and vegetation-influenced open spaces. At the inclined surfaces, cooled and thus heavier air sets in motion in direction to the deepest point of the terrain as a cold air outlet. The cold air flow field, which is pronounced at the time of analysis at 4 o'clock at night, is represented by an arrow signature. The flow direction and flow velocity is represented by the direction of the arrow and the length of the arrow in the form of vectors, whereby the arrows of the map have been aggregated to 200 m x 200 m edge length (equivalent to 400 grid cells) for a clearer representation.
