Classification of the degree of urbanisation of the Andalusian population in statistical mesh.
Description
The classification of the degree of urbanisation of the Andalusian population in statistical mesh prepared by the Institute of Statistics and Cartography of Andalusia, is the first step to obtain information on levels 1 and 2 of the degree of urbanisation (DEGURBA) of the territory of Andalusia.
It is a regular grid of cells of 1 km x 1 km to which, from the georeferencing of the Andalusian population made in the spatial distribution of the population for the last available year (2020), the methodology described by EUROSTAT has been applied following the methodological manual “Applying the Degree of Urbanisation -2021 edition”, to assign the typology referring to levels 1 and 2 of the degree of urbanisation, based on criteria of geographical contiguity, density and population thresholds.
It also shows the regular mesh of uniform cells of 250 m side with population (following the INSPIRE directive) and aims to debug the previous mesh of 1kmx1km removing from each cell of 1 kmx1km those cells of 250 m side integrated in the cell and that do not contain population according to the population mesh of the reference year.
In addition, in order to analyse the evolution of the population intensity and its degree of urbanisation from a more temporal perspective, the level 1 of the degree of urbanisation for the year 2002 has been calculated.
