Surface Water Quality Indicators: Ammonium content in rivers (2023)
Description
The amount of nutrients in the waters is increased by human activity in the territory, and therefore its measurement can be used to assess water quality. The increase in its concentration triggers eutrophy processes, so it is essential to carry out periodic controls of the amount of nutrients.
Among the nutrients periodically analyzed is ammonium, which is a nitrogenous compound. For this indicator, the border value has been chosen as the limit value established in the ESDN between the good and moderate state for each river typology. The typologies with no established legal limit have been registered as ‘No Valuation’.
