Wallhecken are protected in accordance with Section 22(3) of the NAGBNatSchG. Wall hedges are historical ramparts with trees and shrubs. They must not be damaged or eliminated. Only local trees and shrubs may be planted on a wall hedge. Fences must not be built.
As a rule, the wall hedges serve or served as enclosures of land. The design of a wall hedge can be very different.
