Description
Data has been sourced from the Marine Irish Digital Atlas (MIDA).
Data depicts locations of edible periwinkles around the Irish coast and has been used as a proxy for “harvesting and collecting activity” in support of Marine Strategy Framework Directive article 8, 9 10 reporting.
Edible periwinkles are found on many Shorelines around Ireland. Although not very popular in Irish cuisine, many thousands of tons are collected each year for export.
