Speed limitation decisions

Description

The target category refers to speed limits imposed by administrative decisions. There is a speed limit on all roads in Finland. The target category does not take a stand on general speed limits, as there is a decree on them directly in section 9 of the Road Traffic Act. All speed limit decisions must also be entered into the ELY Centres' case management USPA system. Speed limit information derived from traffic signs is maintained in the Digiroad system. The decision may include several road sections which are included in an individual decision. Winter speed limits: - Only those sections where the speed limit is lowered for the winter shall be recorded in the winter speed limit decision. - The speed limit decision is road-level and semi-specific. All speed limit decisions are recorded in the target category. Decisions will not be abolished. The local Centres for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment decide on speed limits. The ELY Centres are responsible for updating the information. Covers all state-owned road sections. Target category information is based on speed limit decisions. The maximum permitted speed is always saved for the target category.
