Description
Under the title “Edible City”, there is a worldwide movement that began in Europe in Andernach. The aim is to cultivate fruit and vegetables in public spaces and freely accessible to all citizens. So vegetable instead of rosebeds in the park or apple and pear trees along a street instead of maple or beech. But already in the stock there are many fruit trees and shrubs on public grounds. Most people who move in nature at least occasionally know the blackberry hedges, juniper shrubs or some “wild” cherry tree to use. However, the city of Hamm now wants to expand its offer around local fruit and fruit trees, to inform more about existing locations and to always strive to plant fruit-bearing tree species in the case of upcoming tree plantings, provided that the respective site conditions permit. In addition, in various places in the city of Hamm orchards, or individual fruit trees are to be replanted – also in the sense of the forest development concept of the city.
