The special publication gives the readership the opportunity to get an overview of the strata sequences of the Quaternary of the Lower Rhine Bay and their chronostratigraphic subdivision in a short time. A powerful and relatively complete stratum sequence of the Quaternary period could be deposited, because the Lower Rhine Bay is a young tectonic subsidence area.
