Characterization of Saxon cultural landscapes through historical cultural landscape elements
Description
The area of Saxony can be divided into 17 cultural landscapes on the basis of 40 cultural-historical relics that shape the landscape. To delineate the cultural landscapes, a schematic method was developed in order to be able to better compare and reproduce the results (cf. WALZ et al. 2012). It combines methods of spatial intersection of spatial data, descriptive statistics and spatial and hierarchical clustering. The division into the cultural landscapes is determined by the focus occurrences and combination of the individual landscape element types. The Saxon cultural landscape is characterized to varying degrees by relics of historical cultural landscape elements. In order to determine how strongly the Saxon cultural landscapes are characterized by historical cultural landscape elements, the weighted coinage index was developed (cf.
