Municipal road maintenance areas
Description
Municipal road maintenance areas (surface, polygon).
Reports the extent of areas where the municipality is the roadkeeper of public roads.
Each polygon represents a municipal road maintenance area. Each municipal road maintenance area comprises one or more agglomerations or an entire municipality.
The purpose of the data product is to visualise the distribution of the respective municipal road maintenance area.
The data product shall state where the boundary is between municipal and state road operators of public roads. It is important to have a well-defined demarcation of the municipal road maintenance area because the Swedish Transport Administration is not the roadkeeper for public roads within the area, except for the few roads with an overall function that have been excluded. The routes that have been excluded are shown in the decision documentation.
Important attributes:
Municipality — Name of road-holding municipality
Agglomeration — Name of the agglomeration in the municipality for which the municipal road maintenance area is linked
There are internal needs within the Swedish Transport Administration (e.g. road network investigators, community planners, operations, etc.) but also externally (municipalities, county administrative boards, etc.) to be able to access in an easily understandable and easily accessible way the ranges of municipal road maintenance areas.
