Landforms – instructions from the Norwegian Environment Agency
Description
The data set shows mapped locations of five of the landforms that are prioritised for mapping according to the Norwegian Environment Agency’s instructions for habitat type mapping. The survey was carried out using LIDAR data, rather than traditional field mapping. The nature and description system Nature in Norway is used to document the academic content. Where there is a professional basis for it, each site is given an ecological quality, based on state and natural diversity. The ecological status of the site is recorded using a set of description variables defined as relevant to the habitat type in question. Based on step values for the variables and rules in the methodology, an overall assessment of the condition is set. Similarly, the location is assessed in terms of natural diversity. Biodiversity is primarily assessed on the basis of the discovery of specific species and the discovery of biologically important living environments. The assessment of status and biodiversity forms the basis for giving the site an overall assessment of ecological quality; Location quality. The land forms in the dataset are dead ice pit, fossil delta, soil pyramid, clay ravine and clay avalanche pit. The data set will be used in conjunction with Nature Types – the Norwegian Environment Agency’s instructions and have the same layering and colour use as this. The data set follows coverage maps for the individual country form, and this shows within which areas these have been mapped.
