Description
The Federal Environment Agency operates eight air quality monitoring centres. The measurements at these sites are used to determine background pollution, long-distance shipments of air pollutants and trends in air quality. The report shows the results of the measurements in 2009 and the development of the last 15 years. The limit values of the German Immission Control Act (Immissionsschutzgesetz-Luft) were complied with at all measuring points in 2009. The limit value for nitrogen oxide to protect vegetation was exceeded in Ried im Zillertal. The target value for ozone for the protection of vegetation was exceeded in Illmitz and Vorhegg, the target value for the protection of human health in Illmitz, Vorhegg and Zöbelboden. The information threshold was met at all measuring points. In a long-term comparison, 2009 showed a below-average load for all measured pollutants.
