Road traffic accidents

Description

The accident data consists of an accident board, a participatory reading, a personal board and the register data of the scene of the accident. A road traffic accident is a traffic event caused by the movement of a vehicle and involving at least one moving driving vehicle or vehicle and which has occurred in an area commonly used for traffic. Personal injuries and vehicle damage occurring at the same place, at the same time (within a short period of time) and for related reasons, i.e. the entire chain of events, are considered to be part of the same accident. For example, if a car collides with a railing on a road and then stays on the road transversely and the next car drives out of the road while avoiding it, then the collision with the railing and the exit are considered to belong to the same accident. If two cars fall off the road in the same place every five minutes due to slippery weather, then there are two different accidents. Statistics Finland is responsible for maintaining the data. The update of the information is continuous. The accident never gets old and never leaves the road network. The target category is not versionable. The data covers all accidents on state roads.
