Description
The Seabed sediment map layer is based on original data on surficial Seabed geology from the Dutch, French and UK national geological mapping agencies; data for Belgium were collected by Renard Centre for Marine Geology, University of Gent; data for Ireland were collected by Marine Institute. The full dataset on which the UK part of the map was based can be obtained from the British Geological Survey at www.bgs.ac.uk/products/digitalmaps/seabed.html. The data have been reclassifed into a modified version of the Folk classifcation that shows sediment classes appropriate to the EUNIS habitat classification scheme.
