Environmental monitoring of ionising radiation: whole body measurement of radioactive substances in humans
Description
The Swedish Radiation Safety Authority has carried out whole body measurements for caesium-137 in various reference groups of Sweden’s population since the late 1950s. In the current programmes, reference groups in Stockholm and Umeå are measured annually, while groups of reindeer-owned Sami and hunters in the Gävle region are measured approximately every five years. Data from these measurements can be made available upon request from the Swedish Radiation Safety Authority. The map shows the geographical location of the measurement sites, the persons included in the reference groups live in the surrounding region.
