Geotopes of Regional Importance

The dataset contains a directory of selected geotopes in the Canton of Bern. Geotopes are spatially limited parts of the geosphere of particular geological, geomorphological or geoecological significance.
They meet the criteria rarity, conservation status/originality/wholeness, scientific and earth-historical significance as well as visibility/recognizability/didactic quality and are selected according to the ‘arche Noah principle’.
In addition, care was taken to ensure that a professional and spatial diversity in the selection is ensured.
The objects can be divided into eight departments and the three regions of Jura, Mittelland and Alps.
