Philippines, Typhoon Haiyan 2013 - P09 - Cebu North / Daanbantayan - Damage analysis

Description

On Friday, November 8, Typhoon Haiyan hit the Philippines. It triggered storm surges and led to thousands of deaths, nearly two million homeless people and extensive destruction in the central Philippines.Based on a visual interpretation of an after satellite image (Pléiades, 14.11.2013, 02:10) a detailed damage assessment was made. The number of damaged buildings was summarized for each 250m cell. In cloudy areas, the number of damaged buildings is probably underestimated. Due to limited data, the individual buildings and roads are not always fully displayed.This map was created in cooperation between the emergency mapping teams of SERTIT and DLR/ZKI.
