Description
The Brandenburg Moorboden Map provides up-to-date information on the distribution and condition of the bog soils in the state of Brandenburg. With the aim of providing an up-to-date map of peat soils, extensive, unused data for the distribution of bog soils in Brandenburg has been processed into an overlap-free map and a comprehensive database of moorland-based soil profiles. In order to record the current state of the moor soils, soil surveys were carried out and statistically evaluated in 2013 in a representative and randomised manner at 7,725 sites with sufficient data base. As a result, thickness loss rates for agricultural bog sites in Brandenburg could be derived. The Moorboden Map was updated again on the basis of the existing landscape of the Brandenburg Moorboden Map (2013). For each sub-area of this data base, a spatial query of the relation to the meanwhile revised and reassessed technical data bases from the Moor Archive of Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin (HUM), soil estimation (BS), forest site mapping (FSK), Prussian geol.-agronomic maps (GK) and biotope types and land use mapping (lbtnk) was established and the potential state for 2021 was derived. The available vector data sets were generated from a grid in the 10 m grid.
