Description
The growing conditions of Baden-Württemberg for forest tree species are diverse. From this point of view, the country is divided into a variety of different regions. The regional structure first highlights the local characteristics, which distinguish one region from the other regions of the country. The first level of regional division consists of the seven growing areas. These are large landscapes with similar features in landscape and rock character, but inconsistent regional climate.
The growth areas essentially correspond to the geographical and plant geographical structure.
The following are designated as growing areas:
— Growth area 1: Upper Rhine lowlands
— Growth area 2: Odenwald
— Growth area 3: Schwarzwald
— Growth area 4: Neckarland
— Growth area 5: Baar-Wutach
— Growth area 6: Swabian Alb
— Growth area 7: Southwest German Alpine Foreland
