Description
The Dwarf Schnäpper occupies mainly deciduous and mixed forests. Preferred are loosened and well-structured, high-grown wood stocks by means of clearings and rejuvenations, which allow the bird hunting over short distances enough space for flight insect hunting. In Styria, it almost exclusively colonises red and hornbeam stocks. The species settles everywhere only very scattered, so that stock and settlement density data are largely missing.
