Number of Overresidents in Hamburg

Description

Pursuant to the first sentence of Paragraph 47(1) of the AsylG, asylum seekers are obliged to reside in the reception centre/first reception centre for a maximum of six months (residence obligation).For legal reasons, the residence obligation may end before the expiry of this period (Paragraphs 48 and 49 of the AsylG) (recognition as a person entitled to asylum). The over-residents include refugees who have to remain in initial reception despite the end of the housing obligation, as no other living space is available in public housing. Staying in an initial reception centre is a measure of the (Hamburg) Law for the Protection of Public Security and Order (SOG) to prevent homelessness. Their statistical recording and presentation is carried out by month.
