Web Service of Entities / Features (WFS) of ICEARAGON
Description
The Web Feature Service (WFS) is defined by the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) in order to provide the information related to the entity stored in a vector coverage that meet the characteristics formulated in the query. It is a standard service, which offers a communication interface that allows interaction with the maps served by the WMS standard, such as editing the image offered by the WMS service or analyzing the image following geographical criteria. The Government of Aragon implements this service through GeoServer. The standard defines three basic operations: GetCapabilities, GetFeature and DescribeFeatureType.
WFS can be of the non-transactional or transactional type. The difference between the first and the second is that, the first, only allows queries and recovery of geographical elements against the transactional that also allows the creation, elimination and updating of these geographical elements of the map through the Transaction element.
A WFS client is capable of downloading vector data, which can be used in maps, spatial analysis or other operations. The integration of the icearagon WFS service can be done both from Web environments and from heavy GIS clients (commercial or free software).
