Detailed report on the near-term forecast of Austrian greenhouse gas emissions from transport 2022.
Description
The near-term forecast of greenhouse gas emissions from the transport sector in 2023 shows provisional emissions for 2022 of around 20.6 million tonnes. Compared to 2021, this represents a decrease of 4.5% or 1.0 million tonnes of CO2 equivalent. This decrease is mainly due to a decrease in fuel exports due to high fuel prices in 2022. At the same time, an increase in domestic activity towards 2021 can be observed. In accordance with the requirements of the Mobility Master Plan 2030 for Austria, additional mobility-relevant indicators were evaluated for the near-term forecast. Primary indicators, i.e. input data for modelling, and secondary indicators, i.e. model results, were used. Methods, models and indicators are described in detail in the report.
