Topographic curves drawn from the SRTM at 30 m
Description
Topographic curves calculated on the basis of the SRTM at 30 m resolution.
24 Shapes out of 12 sectors to cover all of Guyana.
The calculation of the topographic curves was done every 10 m but the curves of the 50 and 100 m are recorded separately to speed up the display.
Calculations performed with ArcGis after treatment with the extension “ArcHydroTools”. “Fill sink” operation carried out in particular in order to avoid topographic inconsistencies (wells).
The 30 m SRTM had also been cut into 12 slabs before processing to simply allow honorable calculation times and honest display times. Users also have the possibility to display only the slabs that interest them.
The assembly plan is provided.
Attention: these are topographical curves calculated on an MNS, so they are false by definition since they are calculated at the level of the canopy. They are nevertheless a valuable help to locate themselves in forests on areas with terrain and homogeneous vegetation. The coastal area, more disturbed and with many low plant formations must contain many topographic inconsistencies. We therefore advise against its use in coastal areas and low reliefs.
