Austria’s Annual Air Emission Inventory 1990-2007
Description
In the report “Austria’s Annual Air Emission Inventory 1990-2007”, the Federal Environment Agency presents the development of air pollutants for which national emission ceilings (NECs) are set for 2010. This is based on the NEC Directive (Directive 2001/81/EC), which has been transposed into national law by means of the Emissions Ceilings Act-Luft (Federal Law Gazette I No 34/2003). The results of the Austrian Air Pollutant Inventory show a significant decrease of 11.6 % for SO2 between 2006 and 2007 and 3.6 % for volatile hydrocarbons without methane (NMVOC). Emissions of nitrogen oxides (NOx) decreased by 2.0 % between 2006 and 2007. Ammonia emissions (NH3) increased over the same period (+ 0.7 %). In 2007, SO2 has already fallen below the permitted national emission ceilings for 2010 and emissions of NH3 are close to the target. Emissions from NMVOC and NOx are significantly higher in 2007.
