Austria’s Annual Air Emission Inventory 1990-2006
Description
In the report “Austria’s Annual Air Emission Inventory 1990-2006”, the Federal Environment Agency presents the trend of air pollutants for which national emission ceilings are set for 2010. This is based on the NEC Directive (National Emissions Ceilings), which has been transposed into national law by means of the Emissions Ceilings Act. The results of the Austrian Air Pollutant Inventory show a decrease of 1.4 % for nitrogen oxides between 2005 and 2006. Emissions of sulphur dioxide (SO2) increased by 6.8 % and non-methane volatile hydrocarbons (NMVOC) by 5.4 %. Ammonia emissions (NH3) remained constant over the same period (–0.1 %). Overall, the emissions of NOx and NMVOC in 2006 are above the set targets for 2010, which are already falling below SO2 and NH3.
