Wireless Wifi networks of the Municipality of Kalamaria
Description
With the aim of economic development and improving the quality of life of citizens, the Municipality of Kalamaria offers free Internet access in 35 locations throughout Kalamaria.
It is the first municipality to implement its programmatic announcements for the promotion of broadband in Local Government.
This project was carried out with the cooperation of HCN, which is the first provider of cable Internet (optical fibers) throughout Greece, based in Kalamaria.
It is worth mentioning that the free Internet service started as a pilot from the historical center of Kalamaria and will soon be extended to points of economic, tourist and social interest.
The former infrastructure of free wireless internet (WiFi) of the Municipality of Kalamaria covers the Square of Profygiko Hellenism and part of the pedestrian street of Kalamaria. The ability to connect to the wireless network is provided to all users of laptops or even mobile phones, who have the ability to connect to WiFi. The project was funded by the Operational Programme "Information Society", under the 3rd CSF, 80% by the European Union and 20% by National Resources.
The Kalamaria Wireless Network is constantly developing, there are plans for even more coverage in other parts of the city.
