Chemical elements in support of the ecological state of rivers

Description

Chemical elements in support of the Ecological State of water bodies within the meaning of Legislative Decree 152/2006 (Annex 1 Tab. 1/B of Ministerial Decree 260/2010), is a descriptor that considers the presence in surface watercourses of substances not belonging to the list of priorities (halophenols, aniline and derivatives, metals, nitroaromatics, pesticides and volatile organ compounds). The calculation procedure provides for the comparison of the average annual concentrations of the sites monitored in the four-year period 2010-2013 with the environmental quality standards (EQS-MA) provided for by the Decree. The water body, which meets all environmental quality standards (EQS-MA) in all monitored sites, is classified as Good. If not, it shall be classified as insufficient. If all the measurements carried out were found to be below the limits of quantification of the laboratory of analysis, the status of the water body is High.In 2010 the first evaluation cycle of the Ecological State under Legislative Decree was initiated. 152/06, which ended with 2013. For the assessment of the water body, the worst result attributed to individual stations in the four-year period is considered.
