Harp Piemonte — Mapping of asbestos in nature
Description
Mapping of lithologies with probability of occurrence of natural asbestos mineralisations in Piedmont using the following datasets: regional lithology (acquisition scale 1:100,000), local lithology (acquisition scale 1:50,000 and 1:25:000), research permits (acquisition scale 1:10,000), slope deposits (acquisition scale 1:100,000), samples with asbestos.It is stressed that the geological cartography produced shows as basic information the areas in which, in relation to rocks recognised as outcropping or subsurface, asbestos mineralisations could be found: however, it does not indicate whether or not asbestos is present in a given area. The determination of the actual presence or absence of minerals classified as asbestos can only be carried out by means of a detailed geological survey on site and by the petrographic-mineralogical analysis of the samples taken.
