Description
The dataset is divided into 15 large lithotechnical units derived from a systematic operation of classification and aggregation, by homogeneous groups, of the different units, formations and geological complexes present in the Piedmont Region, taking into account their propensity to failure. The dataset is part of the Database of Geological Processes created by the Piedmont Region in the second half of the 1980s to respond to the growing demand for logical and structured information on the territory, necessary for the functions of planning, coordinating and guiding choices and interventions in the territorial-geological sphere. The original thematic data was produced on I.G.M. 1:100,000 cutting by structuring and integrating the data already collected by the CNR-IRPI of Turin in the context of the research aimed at assessing the hazards associated with hydrological events in Piedmont.
