Harp Piedmont - BIOMOD, FRAGM at the scale 1:10.000 (2008 data)
Description
The service illustrates the degree of potential biodiversity of the territory and identifies the main elements of the ecological network referred to 2008, according to the number of mammal species that the territory was potentially able to host, on the basis of 23 species considered, selected among the most representative on the Piedmontese territory. Areas of greater or lesser naturalistic value are identified, areas not suitable for intrinsic characteristics (soil cover, altitude or slope) and degraded areas due to the presence of intense human activities. The BIOMOD model has been manufactured according to Directive 92/43/EEC. Furthermore, the service highlights the FRAGM ecological model that allows us to know the degree of ecological connectivity of a territory, understood as its ability to host animal species, allow their movement, and thus define the degree of fragmentation.It should be noted that recently a new methodology has been adopted whose results are available on the Piedmont Geoportal, to which reference is made.
