Description

Municipal Monuments:

This happens when a property has no national significance, but is of local or regional importance. The municipality defines its monument policy in the Municipal Monuments Ordinance.

Niet only buildings, but also dikes, border posts and cross-municipal objects can be part of a provincial monument list. The list is compiled by the Provincial States of the Province. If a property is on the list, it means that the property enjoys protection from the province. In addition, the list serves as a basis for any grant commitments.

Nederland has nearly 62,000 national monuments. These are buildings or other objects that have been designated as protected monuments by the national government for their national cultural historical value. They can be found in the register of monuments. A little over half is a house.
