Analysis of ROSATOM activities and/or ROSATOM ties with the EU
Description
On behalf of the BMK, the Federal Environment Agency analysed the Rosatom activities and links with the EU. Against the backdrop of the geopolitical implications of the war in Ukraine, pronuclear EU Member States want to promote the expansion and continued operation of nuclear energy. The aim is to counter Russia’s energy dependence and high energy prices. The background analysis shows a variety of links and cooperations as well as a strong dependence of the Euratom operating States on Rosatom on nuclear fuels and technologies. Bulgaria, Hungary, Slovakia and the Czech Republic are 100 % dependent on Rosatom fuel elements — Finland 35 %. In particular, the strong connection to the nuclear weapons complex is also evident — a third of a total of 275,000 Rosatom workers work in this area.
