WC’s share of photovoltaic open-air installations in area area
Description
The indicator is a measure of land use and technical overprinting of the landscape by photovoltaic open-air installations (PV-FFA). The solar cells contained in it are surface elements from semiconductors that convert energy from the sun’s rays into electrical energy. Solar cells on roofs and facades of buildings are not taken into account here. Photovoltaic open-air installations claim relatively large areas in the settlement or open space, which are thus deprived of other uses. They are often located along motorways or railway lines, on fallow or conversion areas (department heaps, former open pits, troop training sites and ammunition depots).
