Uusimaa buildings by use, heating method, heating medium and floor area as of 31 December 2010. ##Territorial boundaries The Helsinki region consists of four municipalities in the Helsinki Metropolitan Area, Helsinki, Espoo, Vantaa and Kauniainen, and ten spending limits municipalities: Hyvinkää, Järvenpää, Kerava, Kirkkonummi, Mäntsälä, Nurmijärvi, Pornainen, Sipoo Tuusula and Vihti. The region of Uusimaa is formed in the sub-regions of Helsinki, Raasepori, Loviisa and Porvoo. ##Classifications As of the statistical reference year 2020, the Classification of Buildings 2018. Not all categories in the classification of buildings have been included in Statistics Finland’s building stock. As a rule, summer cottages and agricultural buildings are not included in the building stock. The classification of a building according to its intended use is mainly determined by the use of most of the building’s floor area. The year of graduation refers to the year in which the building was ready for use. If the year of completion is before 1980, the year of completion may have been declared. ##Target set and cropping ‘Building’ means a separate structure, built or erected in its location, with its own entrance, comprising a covered area intended for different activities and generally limited by external walls or walls separating from other structures (buildings). The floor area of a building includes the surfaces of the floors and the area of the attic or basement floor where there are residential or work rooms or other spaces according to the main use of the building. The layer area is a horizontal area bounded by the outer surfaces of the walls of the layers or their intended extension for openings and decorative elements on the surface of the outer walls.
