Historical cultural landscapes of national importance with peatland reference
Description
The database includes bogs and other organic sites that overlap with historical cultural landscapes of national importance according to data from the Lower Saxony Landscape Programme (Map 3 – Protected Landscape - Cultural Landscapes – Historical Cultural Landscapes of National Importance). The database contains the historical peatland landscapes of national importance, which are strongly influenced by historical elements and structures and thus offer an insight into the living conditions of previous generations. These peatland landscapes often have a high aesthetic appeal and tourist value. Smaller areas shall be shown at the downstream planning level.
