Frequently requested loans from the Kunsthalle in Kiel
Description
The collection of the Kunsthalle zu Kiel covers a spectrum that ranges from the Dürer Period to international contemporary art. It comprises approximately 1,100 paintings, 300 sculptures, with several tens of thousands of works in the Graphic Collection, as well as photographs and video works. Changing presentations with works from our own collection are an integral part of our exhibition program. Behind the scenes, the Kunsthalle also operates a lively rental traffic. Works of art from the own collection are temporarily given as loans to other museums and exhibition houses and are presented there in very different thematic contexts.
Over the decades there is an interesting journey for many works of art. In addition to the data on the works and their artists as well as the various borrowers, which range from art museums to city museums and military historical museums, the geo-coordinates of the travel stations in particular provide many opportunities for digital re-use. You are now invited to let the works continue digitally? Is the data spinning a virtual network that needs to be decrypted?
The data set provided (JPEGs + CSV) covers the entire rental traffic of the Kunsthalle including the [cancelled requests from the Corona year 2020](https://opendata.schleswig-holstein.de/dataset/leihgaben-der-kunsthalle-zu-kiel-im-jahr-2020) as well as the longer travel history of three often sought-after works of art. The latter are fully accessible with high-resolution image material, while lending from 2020 is only partially available with illustrations of the works of art, as a number of works are still subject to copyright protection. The work of Ernst Ludwig Kirchner is a canvas painted on both sides.
In addition to the metadata for the individual works (artist’s name, life data, work title, dating, technology and dimensions), the data set includes the respective travel station (place of exhibition, geo-coordinates, exhibition title and period).
