Maringeology 1:100 000 (display service)
Description
Maringeology 1:100 000 contains data on the distribution of soil types and rocks within the Swedish territorial sea and Swedish economic zone (EEZ). The product provides, among other things, information about the bottom material, the strength of different sediments and the way in which they are formed.
SGU is responsible for exploring and mapping bottom conditions within the Swedish territorial sea and economic zone (EEZ). The information produced is used as a basis for planning and deciding on the protection and use of the seabed, including in the design of marine civil engineering works and in environmental monitoring. It is also an important basis for biological inventories and for the Swedish Armed Forces.
Due to restrictions imposed by the Act on the Protection of Geographical Information (2016:319), information is only displayed outside the territorial boundary of the sea (previously the territorial boundary) with the exception of data that has been granted a distribution permit by the Swedish Maritime Administration.
