The Future of Welfare Countries, 2015

Description

International project "Welfare State Futures: Our Children’s Europe", took place as part of the NORFACE Welfare State Futures Research Programme under the coordination of the NORFACE Welfare State Futures Research Programme. University of Kent between 2015 and 2018. In addition to Slovenia, Denmark, Germany, Norway and the United Kingdom (project coordinator) participated in the project. The objective of the international project it was to examine people’s values and attitudes about the priorities of the welfare state in the future. The project was based on innovative methods of qualitative research: for the first time, the Democratic Forum (DF) has been used in the field (consideration of attitudes towards the welfare state). In addition, the data was also collected with the help of focus groups (FS). In the context of DF the survey was also carried out, namely the participants completed the questionnaire 2x, i.e. before and after the implementation of the DF. The questionnaire followed the classical approaches of measuring positions. Main objective of implementing DF was the answer to the question “What are the priorities of the (Slovenian) government regarding benefits and services in 2040?”, while the theme of the FS was "Slovenian Social State or Access and Eligibility to social benefits and services: Who should get what and why? It should be noted that only data for Slovenia are available in the ADP, i.e. transcripts (in *.pdf format) DF and FS, and from related instruction materials for their implementation and survey questionnaire (in *.pdf format). Everything is available in the Slovenian language. Data from all participating countries, including the results of the survey and all related materials (survey questionnaire, instructions for implementation, encoders, reports, list of publications, etc.) are available in English, available on the UK Data Service (http://doi.org/10.5255/UKDA-SN-8496-1. Data i.e. transcripts DF and FS; and the results of the survey are in *.nvp format, which requires the NVivo program, while all the associated materials are in *.pdf format.
