Description
The research is based on a literature review on the provision of security in local communities, which is based on partnership cooperation between the police and local self-government. Modern police activity emphasizes the partnership with
local self-government and the local population, therefore, the survey checks what is the correspondence between the views of police officers and residents regarding the role of municipalities and the police in ensuring security. The purpose of the survey was to establish an opinion on the provision of
safety and security among adult residents of 24 selected municipalities in Slovenia and police officers who do their work there. The survey was carried out in 2012 in urban, medium-sized (mixed) and rural municipalities. With the survey, the researchers tested
the theory of community policing and the active participation of police and residents and municipalities in ensuring security. The survey included 581 police officers and 961 residents. A file containing the replies of the police officers is available for re-use.
a file with the responses of the inhabitants. The researchers also conducted group-oriented interviews with the heads of police stations and heads of police districts, as well as individual structured interviews with mayors and other representatives of municipalities. For more
