Study circles 2010

Description

Study circles are small groups for non-formal learning, where curious adults gather, learn and socialize, and with their results contribute to the development of the home environment. They have been following simple but stable rules since 1993. Systematic monitoring was designed with the purpose of annual reports, which after ten years turned into research-based analyses. The purpose of monitoring and research on the basis of these data is to determine the characteristics of non-formal learning in small groups, which takes place throughout Slovenia throughout the year, and is financed by the MES under certain conditions (qualification of the mentor, adherence to the principles of the ŠK). The research is carried out within the framework of the regular tasks of the Slovenian Institute for Adult Education. The research results serve the funder for the development of adult education (e.g. responding to needs), for the research study of specific issues (e.g. responsiveness of certain segments of society, specificities of community learning), for observing the time dynamics of development (e.g. financial investments of municipalities in adult education) and for comparisons with the rest of the world, especially with the Scandinavian countries.
