Description

The purpose of the sociological research was to collect data on the experiences of young people in reconciling work and privacy, their views, life situations, wishes and needs, as well as organizational practices and culture. The data was collected in two ways: 1. With a case study – 7 companies/organisations in Slovenia (different industries, size, ownership): interviews with young parents, young people without children and management representatives. 2. With telephone survey on reconciliation of work and parenthood/private life of young people in Slovenia - 882 interviews with young people (22 - 35 years). The purpose of the empirical survey was to determine the current problems of parents and potential parents, their experience with employment and at work. The research focused mainly on the issue of reconciling the demands of family and professional life. The questionnaire is mainly focused on identifying negative experiences and covered the following areas with 43 basic questions: a) demographic data on the young people surveyed and their partners, their family and employment situation; the taking of paternity and child-related leave; c) problems/difficulties in reconciling parental/private and professional responsibilities; d) the organisation and intensity of work; e) Negative experience in employment or work due to (potential) parenthood.
