Social support for students of Bežigrad Grammar School (1998)

Description

The updated MTMM model, designed by Saris and Andrews (1991), was used to assess the measurement quality of the four dimensions of social support because it can assess the validity, reliability and impact of the method for each variable separately. Based on theoretical and empirical knowledge, four network generators were designed to measure theoretically justified dimensions of social support. The content of network generators for measuring material, informational and emotional support and socializing was adapted to the characteristics of experimental groups - eighth grade of the third year of Bežigrad Grammar School in Ljubljana. A complex experimental plan is designed to find the factors that influence the quality of measuring social support with a survey questionnaire. The experimental design includes both the characteristics of the measuring instrument and the characteristics of the updated MTMM model, which can influence the estimates of the reliability, validity and impact of methods that have already been recognized as important by survey data quality researchers. The experimental design included four different scales (binary scale, five tiered ordinal scale with marked extremes, five tiered ordinal scale with all marked values and grading with line length), two data collection techniques (recognition from the list and enumeration by memory), giving and receiving social support (basic questions - acceptance and reciprocal questions - giving support) and time between successive repetitions of measurements (20 minutes or one week).
