Social support for students of Poljane Grammar School (2000)

Description

The updated MTMM model, designed by Saris and Andrews (1991), was used to assess the measurement quality of the four dimensions of social support because it can assess the validity, reliability and impact of the method for each variable separately. Based on theoretical and empirical knowledge, four network generators were designed to measure theoretically justified dimensions of social support. The content of network generators for measuring material, informational and emotional support and socializing was adapted to the characteristics of experimental groups - three grades of the third year of Poljane Grammar School in Ljubljana. A complex experimental plan was designed to find the factors that influence the quality of social support measurement using a survey questionnaire. The experimental design contains the characteristics of the measuring instrument that can influence estimates of the reliability, validity and impact of methods that have already been recognised as important by survey data quality researchers. The experimental design included three different scales (five tiered ordinal scale with marked extremes, eleven tiered ordinal scale and three tiered ordinal scale), one data collection technique (listing by memory), giving social support (basic questions - acceptance), with a limit on the number of choices (three choices) and no limit, and the time between successive repetitions of measurements (one week).
