Sexual Behavior of Ljubljana High School Students, 1994
Description
The purpose of the research is to obtain information on sexual behaviour of high school students in Ljubljana, on knowledge of contraception and sexually transmitted infections, on sources of information on sexuality, on the use of contraception. The risky sexual behaviour of adolescents can have both short-term and long-term consequences, such as premature and mostly unwanted pregnancies, abortions and sexually transmitted diseases. If we want to educate young people about responsible sexual behavior, we need to know how many of them already have sex, what they know about contraception and sexually transmitted diseases, and whether their attitude towards their own sexual activity is responsible. The research was carried out on a representative sample of 1723 students of the 1st and 3rd year of secondary schools in Ljubljana. The data were collected using a survey questionnaire that included 25 questions on sexual behaviour, knowledge of contraception and sexually transmitted diseases, sources of information on contraception and sexuality, and young people's views on sexuality and its undesirable consequences. The survey was conducted in February 1994.
