Census of Population, Households and Housing in the Republic of Slovenia in 2002

Description

The purpose of the 2002 census was to collect basic data on population, households and housing and buildings also for the lowest territorial levels and for comparison with previous censuses. Data are important for state institutions, researchers and the general public in determining the situation and planning changes in society. The Statistical Office of the Republic of Slovenia has published aggregated census data in the form of tables on its website and in its publications. Sample of microdata for public use : The 5% sample of individuals, apartments and buildings is intended primarily for use in research and education and allows arbitrary review of the correlation between variables. Three data files are available: persons, apartments and buildings. Files are anonymized for general use via the ADP, access to comprehensive data is possible only on SORS, subject to limitations due to statistical confidentiality. The persons file covers the geographical characteristics of persons such as region of residence, place of schooling or work, frequency and mode of commuting, time and country or region of migration, then demographic characteristics of persons such as number of live births, sex and age, marital status, then economic characteristics such as education, work activity, sector of employment and occupation, as well as household housing and own food production. The variables ethnicity and religion are excluded from the files due to sensitivity in keeping the data confidential. The housing file covers the region, the type and ownership of the dwelling, the number of persons and households in the dwelling, the location, the area, the number of rooms in the dwelling, the equipment with auxiliary rooms, connections and wiring, the method and source of heating. The building file covers variables of type of construction, number of floors and dwellings, material of construction and year of construction.
