Policy Networking and Lobbying in Slovenia, 1996 and 2012

Description

The main purpose of the study Designing Policy Networks and Lobbying in Slovenia in 1996 was to study the changes that occurred due to the transition process in Slovenia. A highly interdisciplinary team of researchers covered social, economic and other changes in the field of policy making. The main research question was the dynamics and changes of the policy network over time in the process of profound changes of the political system. In the spring of 2012, a survey was carried out with the same main research question as the one from 1996, i.e. the formation of a policy network in a period of political change. The purpose of the research was to analyse the impact of Slovenian integration into the European Union on the strategies of interest groups over time and over different periods (before accession, during the period of accession and full membership). For this reason, questions have been added to the questionnaire focusing specifically on international action and stakeholder participation. The project combines two main research objectives at both time points: The aim of cross-sectoral comparison is to gain an explanatory insight into policy network formation processes during the transition period (1996). or integration into the European Union (2012) and obtain a sctorial or content-based approach to revealing the characteristics of policy networks and dynamics. The 2012 survey was part of the international project "Comparative Research on Interest Policies in Europe - INTEREURO". The key objective of the project was to develop a complex theoretical and empirical understanding of the role of interest groups in the European political-institutional system.
