Slovenian Youth and Military Profession, 2000

Description

Researching the attitude of Slovenian youth towards the military profession is a repetition of the research from three years ago, when there was a strong need to determine the general interest in performing the military profession/profession, from which future educated military professionals are recruited. With the research, which is based on the already tested methodology, we have again obtained answers to the interest of the Slovenian modern army. At the same time, we wanted to regain a general image of readiness and tolerance for entering the military profession. The starting point of this study was similar to that of its predecessor. The need for increasing professional skills of the military profession, the ever-closer security Euro-Atlantic integration and the intense need to restructure certain not only organisational but also functional characteristics of the Slovenian Armed Forces were the main reasons for the repetition of the research. Since we found in the previous survey that the military profession is still unattractive in the consciousness of Slovenian youth and without major targeted (aspirational) realization, we included in this survey a range of different questions about the set, rights and duties in connection with military service and the attractiveness of performing obligations. The practical goal of the research was to re-examine and find both subjective and objective factors in connection with the decision-making on the military term with a questionnaire in a new disguise. At the same time, the research represented a synthesis of pressing and controversial topics on national security and warfare.
