The research is aimed at perceptions and expectations in the future, with an emphasis on the year 2000. Respondents answer questions about how much they think about the future of the world and their country, the perception of 2000 as a near or far future, how much they talk, listen or read about the future. Next, questions about what the difference between 2000 and today will be, indicate the best and worst possible thing that could happen in 2000, using a 9-step ladder to estimate life now, 5 years ago, the expectation in 5 years and the expectation in 2000 for themselves, their country and the whole world. They then express their expectations, especially their own hopes/desires for more concrete things, such as: happiness, job satisfaction, religiosity, materialism, social success, human relations, sexual freedom, family values, amount of leisure time, social differences, mental illness, drug use, crime, the situation of women and the younger generation. Interesting observation: As a rule, expectation coincides with the desire for a certain thing to happen. Respondents also express expectations about the possibilities offered by scientific achievements: selection of the child's sex and other traits, treatment of dangerous diseases, e.g. cancer, so that there is no war, regulation of the weather, travel to other planets; for each of the above, the question is asked whether the respondent expects the thing and whether he/she wants it. The following questions relate to respondents’ expectations in relation to war, armament and achieving peace. Respondents first express their expectations regarding armaments: expect in 5 / 20 years / 2000 world war, more weapons or less weapons; what would have happened to the country if it had been involved in the world war, the country could have avoided the war, whether there was anything that could have prevented a war with nuclear weapons, what would have been the result of complete disarmament. There are 25 claims on how to achieve world peace, from proposals on an individual basis to proposals on an international level, respondents express their agreement with each of them, choose the solution that is most likely to ensure world peace. The following are questions about expectations in relation to international trends: how relations between socialist and capitalist countries, between poor and rich countries, between different races will develop. There are 16 countries listed, the respondents say for each of them whether it is a member of the NATO Pact, the Warsaw Pact or none of them. With the help of 20 statements, the respondent's personality traits (idealism, dogmatism, conscientiousism, individualism, etc.) are measured, and some questions relate to the assessment of the actions and views of the younger and older generations. Respondents are asked whether their country has enough influence in the international sphere and how strongly it should be involved in world events, the respondent's own involvement in the social network is also measured: how much he is concerned about the things going on around him, whether he is (actively) a member of a political or religious organisation, whether he is a member of how many associations or clubs he is, whether he has ever held a leading position in them, and whether he has ever expressed his opinion publicly (in writing – in the newspaper or or orally – at a meeting). Demographic issues include: age, gender, marital status, education, employment status, sector of employment, job satisfaction, occupation and industry in which they want to work in 2000, father's employment, head of family employment, respondent's and household income, income satisfaction, size of settlement, how long they have lived at this address, they would like to move and where , size of birthplace, when they moved away from their parents' home and religion.
